0705″I AM the bread of life” ( Pastor Sidney)

I am the Bread of Life

Boys and girls, starting from today, commander will talk a new series of topics about the Lord Jesus’ proclamation for Himself in the book of John starting with “I am.”  Jesus is our Lord, our Savior, and we know He is God’s one and only son coming to the world to die for our sins so that we can be free from sins and we can become the children of God. Other than this, do you know something about Jesus? Jesus is the Lord of our lives, we got to know more clearly about who Jesus is.  Therefore, commander thought this series of Jesus’ “I am” is very appropriate for our children to learn about our Lord Jesus.

In the book of John, Jesus proclaimed seven “I am.”  Jesus declared:

  1. I am the bread of life
  2. I am the light of the world
  3. I am the gate of the sheep
  4. I am the good shepherd
  5. I am the resurrection and life
  6. I am the way, the truth and the life
  7. I am the true vine.

Well, today commander would talk about “I am the bread of life.”

Let’s read the Bible John 6:33-35, “33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

OK, does someone know who is “the bread of God?” Mabel, good job! It is Jesus – Jesus came down from heaven and gave his life to the world as a redemption for our sins. Before Jesus said, “I am the bread of life,” He performed a great miracle, raise your hand if you know what the miracle Jesus just did.  Yeah, Cindy good answer: Jesus fed 5000 men plus many women and children with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. Let’s watch a video (play video).

Waah, what an amazing miracle Jesus performed was! This proved that Jesus is really the son of God. After that many people came to Jesus, because they want Jesus to feed them with more food. People were interested in getting their bodies full.

Well, as we are talking about food for lives, tell commander what kind of food a cow will need? Yeah, a cow will be fed with hay or grass.  How about a dog? Yeah, there are many kinds of dog food, right?  How about birds? Most birds eat worms. And how about squirrels? Yeah, they love to eat nuts and seeds. And killer whales? Yeah, they love salmon or kinds of fishes. Bears also like fish. We know different kinds of lives eat different kinds of food.  We as human, we don’t enjoy the food animals eat. Well, we love rice, bread, meat, all kinds of nutritious food and yummy ice cream, popsicle, cookies, etc. Waah! they are good for our physical life for sure. But how about our spiritual life? Does our spiritual life need food, as well? From the above Bible verse, We definitely need Jesus for our spiritual life.  With Jesus, our spiritual life will be satisfied and growing. In addition, we know God also gave us eternal life, which is only from Jesus God sent to us, as the Bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. “Yes, only in Jesus, we can have eternal life.

During the time Jesus was in the world, a man called Zacchaeus, who was a tax collector and was very rich, he had many fortunes and could eat all kinds of expensive food he liked.  However, he was never happy and satisfied until one day he met Jesus – (watch a video)

Waah, before Zacchaeus met Jesus, he was never happy, just after Jesus came to his house, Zacchaeus turned out to be so happy and satisfied that he was willing to give away many of his fortunes to others.  Do you know why Zacchaeus was satisfied and joyful? Yes, just because he had Jesus in his life, his spiritual life was fed with Jesus!

Jesus came to the world was to give His life to the world so that they can be saved. That is why Jesus said to them, “ I am the bread of life,” who gave His life to us, only we have Jesus’ life, then we can have eternal life. Our spiritual life will be then never be hungry or thirsty. We will have joyful and satisfactory life in Jesus in addition to the eternal life God has promised us to have.

Our physical life needs physical food, though they are yummy and nutritious, however, they cannot meet our spiritual life’s need. Only Jesus can satisfy our spiritual life’s need.

Well, boys and girls, tell commander do you have Jesus for your life? If you don’t, commander would like to encourage you to accept Jesus as your Savior, and say to Jesus, “Jesus, I need you, I want you to be my Savior and my Lord.” Just as Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” Zacchaeus became happy only after he met Jesus and believed in him, his life was then totally changed, he was satisfied and joyful. Our Lord Jesus is God’s only son, and because He loves us, He was willing to sacrifice His life for us, just like He became the bread for our lives, and having had Jesus, our sins are washed away, and we become the children of God, and our spiritual lives will be never hungry or thirsty.
